How to Fill a Burnpot on a Breckwell Pellet Stove

Pellet stoves can help provide primary or secondary heating to a home or other interior structure. Burning compressed sawdust pellets instead of standard wood can make a cleaner and more efficient burn. Breckwell pellet stoves come in several different styles and models, but they all have the same pellet hopper that holds the fuel for the stove. A mechanical auger feeds the pellets from the hopper down to the burnpot where they burn to provide heat. Use the stove controls to fill a burnpot on a Breckwell pellet stove.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the burnpot prior to filling it. Inspect the holes of the burnpot to ensure that no debris or objects obstruct the holes.

    • 2

Fit the burnpot into its niche on the inside of the stove. Close the stove door.

    • 3

Fill the hopper to the top with pellets and close the lid.

    • 4

Prime the auger to begin filling the burnpot with pellets. Turn the pellet stove on and press the “fuel feed button.” Keep pressing the button until you see pellets begin to fill the burnpot.

    • 5

Release the fuel feed button after pellets begin to fall. The auger runs automatically to fill the burnpot to the proper level and it stops dropping pellets when the burnpot fills sufficiently.

    • 6

Press the “heat level advance” button to determine the rate at which the auger feeds pellets into the burnpot. As long as the hopper has pellets and the stove runs, the auger should stock the burnpot.
