How to Replace a Seal on a Pellet Stove Door

Pellet stoves are a type of stove appliance that are similar to wood stoves, but use pellets made of wood fibers or other organic materials. A black rubber seal attached to the inside of the door keeps air from entering the stove and heat from exiting the stove. The seal is held onto the door with a special adhesive, and if the seal ever becomes damaged or begins to fall off, then you must replace the seal with a new one.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the door all the way and move the door up halfway. Lift the door up towards you to fully remove it from the stove.

    • 2

Lay the door down on a flat surface facing down and insert a putty knife into the door seal.

    • 3

Move the putty knife around the door seal to pry it out of the door. Wipe off the remaining adhesive from the door using a wet cloth.

Allow time for the door to dry and apply gasket adhesive all around the door's edges. The gasket adhesive can be purchased from a hardware store or online retailer.

    • 5

Press the new seal along the door, making sure it is pressed into the adhesive.

Place the door back onto the hinges and lower the door all the way down once it's attached. Close the door.
