How to Remove a Breckwell Pellet Stove Combustion Fan

The combustion fan moves the air through the inlets in the Breckwell pellet stove and the burn pot, and then pushes the air out through the exhaust vent. Breckwell recommends removing the fan from the blower housing prior to each burning season to thoroughly clean the fan and the blower housing. Keeping these parts clean can help keep the air inlets and the exhaust vent free of debris, allowing the air to flow freely through the stove and burn the pellets evenly.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect the stove’s plug from the wall outlet. Although the Breckwell stove burns pellets to supply heat to your room, the fan requires electricity to operate and keep the stove burning properly.

    • 2

Face the front of the pellet stove to determine the right side of the stove. Remove the screws holding the panel to this side of the stove. The combustion fan is behind this panel.

    • 3

Brush off any dirt, dust or ashes from the combustion fan housing and motor with a soft-bristled brush. Vacuum around the inside of the Breckwell pellet stove to remove the debris brushed from the combustion fan housing, motor and the floor of the stove.

    • 4

Disconnect the wires from the combustion fan motor. The white and the blue wires connect to two terminals on the side of the motor. Use your fingers to pull these wires from the motor.

    • 5

Turn the six hex-head screws around the face of the combustion fan motor counterclockwise to loosen them. Grab the motor and twist it counterclockwise slightly to release the motor and blower fan.

    • 6

Pull the motor and blower fan from the blower housing.
