Removing Tea Residue From Ceramic

Sipping tea is enjoyable, but the unsightly stains it sometimes leaves behind in your ceramic mugs often look impossible to remove. Washing the ceramic in soapy water often isn’t enough to clean away the dark tea stains. Be gentle yet aggressive when removing tea stains from ceramic to effectively get rid of the stains without harming the ceramic.

  • Soft cloths
  • Table salt
  • Dish soap
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda

Instructions

      Moisten a soft cloth with warm water. Apply table salt to the cloth.

      Scrub the stained ceramic gently with the cloth. Apply moderate pressure to lift the stains, but don’t scrub so hard you scratch the ceramic.

      Rinse the ceramic under warm water. Wash as usual with warm, soapy water.

      Mix 1 tablespoon baking soda with a few drops of warm water if the tea stains are still present. Scrub the tea stains with a sponge and the baking soda paste until they disappear. Wash the ceramic in warm, soapy water to remove any residue.
