How to Remove the Vent Cap From a Camp Trailer's Roof

Campers and motor homes feature one or more ceiling vents, sometimes fitted with a fan. Vents are exposed to the outside of the camper, and are affected by the elements over time. A broken vent cover allows water to invade the camper interior, which can lead to rot and extensive water damage. You can remove and replace the vent cover itself, or remove the entire vent and replace it with a working fan and assembly.

Place the new vent in the ceiling cavity, secure with mounting screws and apply a layer of silicone caulk around the perimeter.

Replace the trim and trim screws on the interior and exterior of the vent. Replace the crank handle. Place the cover against the hinges and insert the hinge screws.
