How to Remove Marks From Copper Roofs

  • Ladder
  • Bucket with a handle
  • Detergent that is free of pyrophosphates
  • Scrubbing brush
  • Wood spatula or plastic scraper
  • Distilled water
  • Soft cleaning cloth

      Position the ladder along the copper roof where the marks are located. Ask a helper to hold the ladder steady while you work.

      Mix a detergent and water solution in a bucket with a handle. Follow the directions of the label for the ratio or detergent to water. Use a neutral detergent that is free of pyrophosphates.

      Carry the scrub brush, wood spatula and cleaning solution up the ladder with you.

      Remove any debris from the copper roof with a spatula made of wood or a plastic scraper.

      Dip a scrub brush into the cleaning solution and scrub the marks on the copper roof.

      Carry the supplies down the ladder and then return with with distilled water and a soft cleaning cloth. Rinse the roof thoroughly with the water.
