Decide where you want the Jungle val planted. For ponds, plant one bunch of Jungle val every 1 to 2 square feet of pond surface. For aquariums, plant the same species together in a bunch. For example, keep Jungle vals in the far back corner and Cabombas in the opposite corner of the tank.
Plant Jungle vals in nutrient-rich gravel or sand with moderate to high levels of light. Jungle vals survive in water temperatures between 59 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit.
Plant the Jungle val at depths of 24 to 48 inches. Dig a small hole large enough to hold the root system of the aquatic plant in the bottom of the pond or aquarium.
Place the roots of the Jungle val in the hole. Refrain from letting the roots bend and instead, keep them pointing straight down.
Keep the crown of the Jungle val above the opening of the hole and carefully cover the roots with the dirt or gravel.
Trim the tops of the Jungle val before winter sets in if the water plants are planted in an outside pond. No special winter care is needed for aquatic plants growing in an aquarium.
