Remove clutter and unnecessary items from the kitchen. Get rid of broken items or things you rarely use.
Designate specific areas for each type of food, utensil or kitchen appliance. Store items near where there are used. For example, keep your cooking utensils in a drawer or container near the stove so you are able to reach them easily when you are cooking.
Store items of similar sizes together on the same shelf to make the most efficient use of the space. Adjust the shelves in the cupboards or pantries to fit the container sizes better, if possible.
Organize smaller items on the shelves using wire racks or baskets. Place similar items together in a basket to make things easier to find.
Make additional storage space by adding shelves and hooks around the kitchen. On open shelves, store your kitchen items that look nice enough to stay out in the open.
Update your cabinetry to include drawers and shelves that pull out for easier access to the stored items. Add a crockery drawer that has pegs that you are able to adjust to hold stacks of dishes.
