How to Decorate With a Drop Leaf Table

According to Elle Décor Magazine, the drop-leaf table originated in Europe during the 16th century. These tables save space and are good for small spaces. When company arrives, you can expand the table by extending the hinged leaves on the sides. Drop-leaf tables come in all styles, ranging from chic modern to classic country. No matter the type of drop-leaf table you own, a few basic accessories will make it look right at home.

Instructions

    • 1

Position your drop-leaf table against a wall with the corners down when not in use as a dining place. Accessorize the table with vases, ceramic pieces or a sculpture.

    • 2

Use your drop-leaf table as the primary table in your dining room. It's not necessary for the table leaves to be in the down position at all times. Keep them out and place a decorative tablecloth over the table. Set it with place settings complete with napkins and silverware or just add a centerpiece.

    • 3

Place your drop-leaf table near a doorway and put a lamp on top to add light to your entryway.

Use small matching drop-leaf tables as nightstands in a bedroom.
