Electric turkey fryers are a great way to cook a turkey quickly and easily. Here's how to do it:
* 16- to 24-pound turkey, thawed
* 1 gallon vegetable oil
* 1/2 cup Cajun seasoning
* 1 tablespoon paprika
* 1 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1 teaspoon onion powder
* Salt and pepper to taste
1. Preheat the electric turkey fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Rinse the turkey inside and out and pat dry.
3. Season the turkey inside and out with the Cajun seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
4. Place the turkey in the fryer basket and lower it into the oil.
5. Cook the turkey for 3 to 4 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
6. Carefully remove the turkey from the fryer basket and place it on a platter to rest for 10 minutes before carving.
* To prevent the oil from splattering, place a large metal spoon in the bottom of the fryer before adding the oil.
* Be sure to use a heavy-duty fryer with a thermostat that can be set to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
* Do not overfill the fryer with oil. The oil should come up to the halfway mark on the turkey.
* Do not leave the turkey unattended while it is cooking.
* Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the turkey to make sure it is cooked all the way through.
* Let the turkey rest for 10 minutes before carving to allow the juices to redistribute.
