* 1 (12 to 14-pound) whole turkey
* 1 tablespoon salt
* 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
* 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
* 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1. Rinse the turkey inside and out and pat dry. Season the inside of the turkey with salt and pepper.
2. In a small bowl, combine the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub the turkey all over with the spice mixture.
3. Place the turkey breast-side up in the slow cooker. Pour the melted butter over the turkey.
4. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the internal temperature of the turkey reaches 165 degrees F.
5. Let the turkey rest for 15 minutes before carving.
* If you don't have a slow cooker large enough to fit a whole turkey, you can cut the turkey into pieces and cook them in the slow cooker.
* You can add vegetables to the slow cooker along with the turkey. Some good options include potatoes, carrots, onions, and celery.
* To make sure the turkey is fully cooked, insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the thigh. The internal temperature should reach 165 degrees F.
* Let the turkey rest for 15 minutes before carving. This will allow the juices to redistribute and make the meat more tender.
