Decorating Ideas for Black & White With Red Roses

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but many cannot disparage the sleek use of black and white with red. Particularly using red roses to incorporate a black and white decorating scheme will add a certain pop of visual interest that many enjoy. Making your black and white decorated room work with red roses is not difficult. The combination can add a spark of life into a classic, modern or eclectically decorated rooms.
  1. Rose Wallpaper

    • Tie stark white floors and dark black furniture together with the romanticism of a bold rose-patterned wallpaper. Look for a wallpaper with showy red rose blooms to make a statement with your decor. If the pattern has large roses, pick a single wall as a statement wall to incorporate a burst of blooms. Paper the whole room if the roses are more delicate or greater amounts of white or other flowers show through. Keep your furniture strictly black and white for the strongest effect.

    Fresh Flowers

    • Make softer statement by incorporating a vase full of fresh cut red roses. Choose roses of the same hue for a simple arrangement or add variety by adding shades of different hues of red. Black roses, which have a deep red hue can soften black pieces of furniture. Enliven a coffee or dining table by using a tall white or black vase filled with long-stemmed roses for a dramatic effect. Small gatherings of red tea roses in multiple arrangements around the room will give an energizing feel.

    Accent Pieces

    • An accent piece made from rose patterned fabric can also lend a dramatic flare to an otherwise austere room. Pick a large piece for the biggest statement, such as a sofa or chair. Use a red rose tablecloth or table runner to increase a rosy hue in a kitchen or dining room. A table painted with a few roses will add a pretty conversational piece to a den or living room. Limit your one or two pieces to create the best effect. Choose only one or two big pieces to avoid ruining the dramatic feel.

    Accessories

    • If one accent piece seems like too much for your room, choose several small pieces to add little pops of color. A rose-patterned pillow, vase or other accessory will soften the black pieces in your room and set off the white pieces. Even a frame with a red rose border, a small ceramic rose sculpture or rose patterned throw will turn your dyadic color scheme into a triadic scheme. Use even amounts of each color for a balanced room or give your room an edgy look by adding small amounts red or black for a sharper look.
