How Do I Properly Freeze a Fresh Tomato for Future Use?

Freezing fresh tomatoes is an excellent way to preserve their flavor and use them in the future. You can freeze whole tomatoes, cut-up tomatoes, or even cooked tomatoes.

Here are the steps on how to properly freeze fresh tomatoes:

1. Select firm, ripe tomatoes that are free from blemishes.

2. Wash the tomatoes thoroughly and dry them well.

3. Decide how you want to freeze the tomatoes. You can freeze them whole, cut-up, or cooked.

- To freeze whole tomatoes, simply place them in a freezer-safe bag and seal it tightly.

- To freeze cut-up tomatoes, cut the tomatoes into desired sizes and place them in a freezer-safe bag. Seal the bag tightly.

- To freeze cooked tomatoes, cook the tomatoes in a saucepan over medium heat until they are soft and mushy. Let them cool completely and then place them in a freezer-safe bag. Seal the bag tightly.

4. Place the freezer-safe bags in the freezer and freeze for up to 12 months.

When you are ready to use frozen tomatoes, simply thaw them in the refrigerator overnight or at room temperature for several hours. You can use them in any way you would like, such as adding them to soups, stews, sauces, or salads.

Frozen tomatoes are an excellent way to add extra flavor and nutrition to your meals all year long.
