How to Marinate Bratwurst

Marinating bratwurst is a great way to add flavor and moisture to the sausages. Here's a simple recipe for a marinade:

Ingredients:

- 1 pound bratwurst sausages

- 1 cup beer (your favorite kind)

- 1/4 cup brown sugar

- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard

- 1 tablespoon olive oil

- 1 teaspoon salt

- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

- 1/4 cup chopped onion (optional)

- 1/4 cup chopped garlic (optional)

Instructions:

1. In a large bowl or resealable plastic bag, combine the beer, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, olive oil, salt, and black pepper.

2. Add the bratwurst sausages to the marinade and mix well to coat.

3. If desired, add the chopped onion and garlic.

4. Cover the bowl or seal the plastic bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.

5. When ready to cook, remove the bratwurst from the marinade and discard the marinade.

6. Grill the bratwurst over medium heat for 10-12 minutes, or until cooked through and browned on all sides.

7. Serve immediately with your favorite sides, such as sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, or grilled onions.

Tips:

- If you don't have time to marinate the bratwurst for very long, you can still get some flavor by marinating them for just 30 minutes.

- You can use any type of beer for the marinade, but a dark beer will give the bratwurst a richer flavor.

- If you don't like Dijon mustard, you can substitute yellow mustard or honey mustard.

- If you like spicy food, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the marinade.

- Bratwurst can also be cooked in the oven. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and bake the bratwurst for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through and browned on all sides.
