Prepare the chair's surface. Clean the garden chair with an ammonia-based cleaner. Wipe the surface clean with paper towels.
Sand glossy surfaces with fine grit sandpaper. Remove dust with tack cloth.
Prepare the painting area. Cover work area with a drop cloth or newspaper to prevent damage from the paint.
Place the chair upside down on the prepared surface. Shake the spray can to mix the paint. Taking care that the spray nozzle is facing the chair, apply paint using short even sprays. Hold the spray can 10 to 12 inches from chair surface. Allow the chair to dry until the paint feels dry to touch.
Turn the chair right side up. Shake the spray can to mix the paint. Holding the paint can 10 to 12 inches from the chair's surface; paint the back of the chair. Then paint the sides and finally the front. Start at the top and work down toward the legs. Allow the chair to dry until paint feels dry to the touch. Repeat this step if additional coverage is desired.
Wipe up any spills before the paint dries completely. Wet paint will clean up with soap and water. Use paint remover to clean up any dried paint.
Allow the paint to dry for seven days before using the chair. Take care to protect the chair from the elements while it dries.
