How to Make Bread-and-Butter Pickles

Bread-and-butter pickles are a delicious and versatile condiment that can be enjoyed on sandwiches, burgers, and more. They're also a great way to use up extra cucumbers from your garden. Here's how to make your own bread-and-butter pickles:

Ingredients:

* 6 cups cucumbers, peeled and sliced

* 1 cup sugar

* 1/2 cup vinegar

* 1/2 cup water

* 1 teaspoon mustard seeds

* 1/2 teaspoon celery seeds

* 1/4 teaspoon salt

* 1/4 teaspoon turmeric

* 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions:

1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, combine the cucumbers, sugar, vinegar, water, mustard seeds, celery seeds, salt, turmeric, and red pepper flakes.

2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the cucumbers are tender and the liquid has thickened slightly.

4. Remove the pot from the heat and let cool completely.

5. Transfer the pickles to a clean glass jar or jars.

6. Seal the jars and store them in a cool, dark place for at least 2 weeks before eating.

The pickles will keep for up to 6 months in a cool, dark place.

Tips:

* For a sweeter pickle, add more sugar.

* For a spicier pickle, add more red pepper flakes.

* You can also add other spices to your pickles, such as dill, garlic, or onion.

* Bread-and-butter pickles are a great way to use up extra cucumbers from your garden.

* If you don't have time to make your own bread-and-butter pickles, you can also buy them at the store. Look for pickles that are made with natural ingredients and don't contain any artificial sweeteners or preservatives.
