How to Steam Corn on the Cob

Stovetop Method:

Ingredients:

- Ears of corn, husks removed

- Water

Instructions:

1. Fill a large pot with 2-3 inches of water. Bring the water to a boil.

2. Add the corn cobs to the pot.

3. Cover the pot and steam the corn for 5-7 minutes, or until the kernels are tender.

4. Drain the corn cobs and serve.

Microwave Method:

Ingredients:

- Ears of corn, husked and silked

- Water

- Plastic wrap

Instructions:

1. Place the corn cobs in a microwave-safe dish.

2. Add 1/4 cup of water to the dish.

3. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and microwave the corn on high for 3-5 minutes, or until the kernels are tender.

4. Remove the corn cobs from the microwave and serve.

Tips:

- For added flavor, you can add salt, butter, or herbs to the water before steaming the corn.

- If you don't have a colander, you can drain the corn cobs by placing them on a paper towel-lined plate.

- Steamed corn on the cob is a delicious and healthy side dish that can be enjoyed with a variety of meals.

Additional Tips:

- Choose fresh corn. Look for ears with bright green husks and plump, milky kernels.

- If the corn is very fresh, you may not need to remove the husks before steaming. Simply pull back the husks and remove the silk.

- You can also steam corn in a steamer basket. Place the corn cobs in the steamer basket and set the basket over a pot of boiling water. Cover the pot and steam the corn for 5-7 minutes, or until the kernels are tender.

- Serve the corn immediately with your favorite toppings, such as butter, salt, pepper, or cheese.
