However, some types of wood, such as cedar, have a strong smell, which can sometimes transfer to your dishes. If your dishes have acquired a scent from your wood cabinets, you can remedy this problem by using a couple of common, inexpensive household items.
- White vinegar
- Cloths
- Liquid dish soap
- Sponge
- Lemon juice
- Salt
- Baking soda (optional)

Prepare a bath for the dishes consisting of 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts hot water.

Place the dishes in the vinegar bath, and allow them to soak for 30 to 45 minutes.

Wet a cloth, and wring out the extra water. Add 1 teaspoon of liquid dish soap to the cloth, and use it to wipe the dishes.
