Instructions

  1. Fabric Cushions

    • 1

Remove any outer covers on your cushions and launder them according to their care requirements, either in the washing machine or at the dry cleaner.

    • 2

Take the cushions outdoors on a mild day with adequate sunshine and low humidity. Leave them outdoors for several hours.

    • 3

Bring the cushions back inside and check for odors. If odors still persist, fill your bathtub with 1 cup of white distilled vinegar and very hot water. Hang the cushions on a clothing rack or shower curtain rack with clothing pins, then shut the bathroom door so that the vinegar steam from the bathtub can rise up and penetrate the cushion fibers, neutralizing odors.

    • 4

Remove the cushions after 15 to 30 minutes and wipe them dry with a clean, lint-free cloth.

    Leather Cushions

    • 5

Mix together 1 tablespoon of distilled white vinegar and 2 tablespoons of food-grade linseed oil.

    • 6

Dampen a lint-free cloth very lightly with the mixture.

    • 7

Buff the mixture onto the leather cushions and then set them aside overnight.

    • 8

Buff them with a clean lint-free cloth the next morning to increase their shine.
