Organizing Ideas for Storage Containers

Plastic storage containers can go a long way toward getting your home organized. Plastic containers come in a variety of sizes at places such as department, home improvement and craft stores. With some ingenuity, you can get your personal belongings and clutter out of sight and well organized.
  1. Shoes

    • Small plastic containers that are about the same size as a shoe box can be used in your closet to keep pairs of shoes organized. Place each pair of shoes in its own container, then tape a picture of the shoes to the front side of the container so you'll know what pair is in what box. Or purchase clear storage boxes. This will keep shoes together and protect them from dirt or debris.

    Toys

    • Kids' toys often take over a home. Organize toys in plastic bins to ensure that each toy has its own spot. If you have more than one child, give each child a bin in a different color. Come clean up time, each kid will know which bin to put their toys into. It will also help get them involved in the process of organizing the home.

    Bed

    • Slim plastic containers can be used under the bed, an ideal solution for using up that space. You can store out of season clothing such as coats in the summer or bathing suits and summer clothes in the winter. You can also put your bed on plastic lifts to create even more space for containers under the bed.

    Toiletries

    • Small plastic containers can be placed in the drawers of a bathroom vanity or on shelves in a bathroom closet. This will help keep all of the lotions, creams, mouthwash, makeup and other toiletries floating around your bathroom in order. Place like items in each container, such as one for nail polish and one for bars of soap.
