- Worsted weight yarn in black
- Size 8 (5mm) knitting needles
- Tapestry needle
Spider web is worked at 20 sts = 4 inches in garter stitch. (Gauge is not important for this project, but it will affect the size of your spider web.)
Cast on 10 stitches. (Your number of cast on stitches will be determined by the size of spider web you’d like to make. For a medium sized web, cast on 10 stitches. )
Knit 2 rows. (This will create a selvedge edge for your spider web.)
Begin Spider Web:
Row 1: K2, YO, knit across to last 2 sts, YO, K2. (8 sts increased)
Row 2: Knit across
Row 3: K1, YO, knit across to last 2 sts, YO, K1. (8 sts increased)
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until spider web has desired number of arms
Bind off work leaving an 8 inch tail. Trim the end.
Weave in ends.
1. Holding one end of spider web in each hand and arms pointing up, bring them together and over to form eight sides.
2. Sew one side to another side using a tapestry needle and black yarn. Continue joining sides until the last arm, securing it with a few extra stitches.
3. Flip spider web over to other side and make your first round of webs by weaving yarn in and out between arms from center out securing with a few extra wraps around each arm.
4. Repeat step 3 as many times as desired.
Hang in your window or from your ceiling and enjoy!
