Owls are fascinating creatures, and they make for great decorations. If you're looking for a fun and easy way to make an owl, this tutorial is for you. We'll show you how to make an owl using a pinecone, some felt, and a few other simple materials. So gather up your supplies and let's get started!
- Pinecone
- Felt (in brown and white)
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Googly eyes
- Orange or red felt (for the beak)
- Black sharpie marker
Step 1: Prepare the Pinecone
Start by preparing the pinecone. If it's still closed, you can open it up by placing it in a warm oven for a few minutes. Be sure to keep an eye on it, as it can catch on fire if it's left in too long.
Once the pinecone is open, use scissors to trim off any excess scales. You want the pinecone to be a nice, round shape.
Step 2: Cut Out the Felt Pieces
Next, cut out the felt pieces. You will need the following:
- 2 large brown circles (for the owl's eyes)
- 2 small white circles (for the owl's pupils)
- 1 orange or red triangle (for the owl's beak)
- 2 white wings (optional)
Step 3: Assemble the Owl
Once you have all of the felt pieces cut out, you can start to assemble the owl.
1. Hot glue the large brown circles onto the pinecone, just above the center.
2. Glue the small white circles onto the brown circles, for the owl's pupils.
3. Glue the orange or red triangle onto the pinecone, between the eyes.
4. (Optional) Glue the white wings onto the sides of the pinecone, pointing upwards.
Step 4: Add the Finishing Touches
To finish off the owl, you can add some details with a black sharpie marker. Draw a small line for the owl's mouth, and add some feathers around the eyes and wings.
Step 5: Enjoy Your Owl!
Your owl is now finished! You can display it on a shelf, mantel, or anywhere else you like. It's sure to be a hit with everyone who sees it.
