How to Make a Roman Theatre Mask

## Roman Theatre Mask

A Roman theatre mask is a great way to add some drama to your next costume party or theatrical production. It's also a fun and easy project that can be completed in just a few hours.

Materials:

* 1/2 sheet of 1/4-inch plywood

* Jigsaw

* Sandpaper

* Acrylic paint

* Paintbrush

* Clear sealant

* 2 pieces of felt

* 1/4-inch elastic cord

* Hot glue gun

Instructions:

1. Print out the Roman theatre mask template.

2. Cut out the template and trace it onto the plywood.

3. Use a jigsaw to cut out the mask.

4. Sand the edges of the mask until they are smooth.

5. Paint the mask with acrylic paint. You can use any colors you like, but traditional Roman theatre masks were often red, black, or white.

6. Let the paint dry completely.

7. Spray the mask with a clear sealant to protect the paint.

8. Cut two pieces of felt that are slightly larger than the eye holes in the mask.

9. Glue the felt pieces to the inside of the mask, over the eye holes.

10. Cut a piece of elastic cord that is long enough to fit around your head.

11. Hot glue the ends of the elastic cord to the inside of the mask, near the temples.

12. Your Roman theatre mask is now complete!

Tips:

* If you don't have a jigsaw, you can also use a coping saw or a scroll saw to cut out the mask.

* Be sure to sand the edges of the mask thoroughly to avoid any splinters.

* You can use any type of acrylic paint to paint the mask, but be sure to use a sealant to protect the paint from chipping or peeling.

* If you want to add some extra detail to the mask, you can glue on some beads, sequins, or feathers.

* This mask is a great way to add some drama to your next costume party or theatrical production. It's also a fun and easy project that can be completed in just a few hours.
