1. Prepare the tin can:
* Remove any labels or glued-on pieces of plastic from the can.
* Punch or file a 1/4-inch hole through the bottom of the can.
2. Prepare your punch:
* Use a nail, ice-pick, or sharpened metal rod as a punch.
* Hammer or press the pointed end into a chunk of wood or scrap lumber.
* The end of the punch should stick up about 1 inch from the wood to create the desired height of your punch.
* Make sure the wooden base is at least 4 inches wide and several inches long to provide a solid base for punching.
3. Punch the can:
* Place the open end of the tin can over the punch, leaving a small gap between the can and the wooden base.
* Hold the can in place with one hand while you use the hammer in your other hand to strike the top of the punch, driving it through the can.
* Continue punching until you reach the desired height for your punch.
* Use the hole in the bottom of the can to drain off the remaining liquid.
1. Select a tin can:
* Choose a cylindrical food tin can.
* Remove the lid and base of the can using a can opener.
* Wash and dry the can thoroughly.
2. Prepare the can:
* Place a piece of cardboard on a flat surface.
* Put the tin can on top of the cardboard, ensuring it is centered.
3. Mark the can:
* Use a pencil to mark the height you want to punch the tin.
* Ensure the marks are evenly spaced around the can.
4. Punch the can:
* Place a nail through one of the marks and hammer it through the can.
* Repeat this step for all the marks you made on the can.
5. Sand the edges:
* Use sandpaper to smooth the edges of the holes you punched in the tin can.
* This will prevent injuries while handling the tin can.
Note: Be cautious while punching the tin can, as the jagged edges can be sharp. Wear gloves to protect your hands and use safety goggles to protect your eyes.
