How to Make Wildlife Decor

A cohesive and immersive wildlife theme in your home can turn into a topic of discussion for friends, family and other visitors. To accomplish this, you must use rustic materials and wildlife-themed objects throughout your home. Standard appliances can even be turned into rustic centerpieces with some artwork and a little effort. It's best that these decorations blend in instead of standing out.

Instructions

    • 1

Use an old household item as a starting point for this project. An old lamp, small stand or even a wooden box works.

    • 2

Pick natural items from the surrounding area that you can work with to create your wildlife decor. This can include rocks, pebbles, twigs or leaves. Use the type of item that reflects the animals you may want to display. For example, if making bird decor, focus on twigs and leaves. Use rocks and pebbles for land-dwelling wildlife decor.

    • 3

Glue the rocks, twigs and other items directly onto the fixture using cyanoacrylate glue. Try to organize the pieces to duplicate a habitat or a natural setting. Use the natural shape of the fixture to your advantage. For example, use the tall, slender shape of a lamp to create a treelike appearance.

    • 4

Glue several animal figurines throughout the decor. The size of the figurine depends on the size of the fixture used for the project. Larger fixtures can handle larger figurines.

    • 5

Paint in any remaining empty spaces. Use a single color to fill in any blank spots, or use the paint to add depth to the background. Paint additional branches, caves, rocks, grass or other items that match the natural habitat of any animals you're working with.
