## Old Fashioned Southern Cornbread Dressing

Ingredients:

* 1 cup all-purpose flour

* 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal

* 2 teaspoons baking powder

* 1/2 teaspoon salt

* 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

* 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

* 1/2 teaspoon dried sage

* 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary

* 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

* 1/2 cup chopped onion

* 1/2 cup chopped celery

* 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper

* 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

* 2 cups chicken broth

* 1/2 cup milk

* 1/4 cup melted butter

* 1 egg, beaten

* 1-1/2 cups crumbled cornbread

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, pepper, thyme, sage, rosemary, and oregano.

3. Stir in the onion, celery, green bell pepper, and parsley.

4. In a medium bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, milk, melted butter, and egg.

5. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

6. Stir in the crumbled cornbread.

7. Pour the dressing into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the dressing is golden brown and cooked through.

9. Let the dressing cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Tips:

* To make the dressing ahead of time, bake it according to the recipe and then let it cool completely. Store the dressing in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When ready to serve, reheat the dressing in a preheated 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven for 15-20 minutes, or until heated through.

* If you don't have any crumbled cornbread on hand, you can use store-bought cornbread croutons instead.
