How to Replace a Door Handle on a GE Spacemaker XL

The door handle on your GE Spacemaker is, clearly, an important part of the microwave. Without a working door handle, the microwave will not be able to open or shut properly. If you are having problems with your GE Spacemaker's door handle, you can replace it with a new one. You don't have to send your microwave out for servicing.      Unplug the microwave from the power supply.

     Open the door by prying it with your fingers.

   • 3

     Use a flathead screwdriver to pry the plastic panel cover off of the microwave's inside.

     Remove the screws to the door handle after the plastic panel has been removed.

   • 5

     Put your new door handle over the screw holes and then secure it to the microwave.

   • 6

     Put the plastic cover back onto the microwave door.
