Ceiling Fan Mounting Instructions

Turn off the electricity in the room where you want to install the ceiling fan. Whether you live in a house or an apartment, you can turn the electricity off by flipping the appropriate switch in the breaker box.

Remove the screws from the cover over the ceiling fixture and take down the cover. Pull down the wires in the ceiling so they are easily accessible. Attach the round metal bracket provided with the ceiling fan with the screws.

Lift the base of the ceiling fan up to the installed bracket and place it loosely in the bracket so that it latches onto the hook provided to hold the fan while you connect the wiring. Connect the wires of the ceiling fan to the wires in the ceiling by twisting the wires of the same color together. Twist the provided wire nuts over the wires to prevent electrical shock.

Feed the wires back up into the ceiling to get them out of the way, and fully connect the fan's base to the brackets, using the provided screws. Screw the fan blades in place on the fan, using the screws provided. If the fan has light fixtures as well, loosen the small screws in each of the fixtures and place a light shade in each fixture, tightening the screws to hold the light shade in place.

Turn the power back on in the room where the fan was installed. Flip the switch for the overhead electric fixture, which is generally the first switch in a room, to power the fixture on, and then pull the chain to turn on the ceiling fan.
