How Do I Install Lennox UV PureAire Lamps?

Lennox manufactures air cleaners and filters to purify the air inside a home. PureAire cleaners filter the air and use a fan to blow clean air into your home. These air cleaners have one or two ultraviolet (UV) lights that glow inside in a blue color. UV lights reduce the occurrence of viruses, bacteria, mold and yeasts to protect your family from diseases and sickness. Lennox recommends installing new lamps once a year, as the effectiveness diminishes over time.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the electrical circuit to the air cleaner off. Let the appliance cool for about 10 minutes.

    • 2

Grasp the access door handle and swing it to the right to open the door.

    • 3

Pull the wiring harness off the end of the lamp.

    • 4

Turn the knurled nuts on each side of the lamp counterclockwise to loosen them. Do not remove the nuts, but turn them two or three revolutions to loosen them. Knurled nuts have ridges on the outside to grasp when turning them by hand.

    • 5

Slide the bracket under the nuts to the left to free the lamp.

    • 6

Pull the defective lamp out of the air cleaner. Wipe the new lamp with a lint-free cloth to remove any dust and fingerprints and place it in the same position.

    • 7

Slide the bracket under the nuts to the right over the lamp. Tighten the two nuts clockwise.

    • 8

Plug the wiring harness onto the bulb, close the door and turn the electrical circuit on.
