How to Make a Tile Tray

Select the tray you will be using for the project. When making a tile tray it helps to know the surface area (size of the tray) when purchasing the supplies.

Create a tile pattern for the tray. This is one of the most entertaining aspects of making a tile tray. These trays may be made in a mosaic arrangement, you can purchase tiles that work together to form a specific picture or you can hand paint your tiles for a truly unique look and overall experience.

Place the tile within the tray in the pattern you have made. Some patterns require a great deal more care than others for this step. If you are creating a complicated mosaic pattern you may wish to hold certain pieces in place with glue before grouting in order to keep the pattern as it is intended.

Grout the tile. Once the tile begins to set you should wipe the grout from the tile. Make sure you do this before the grout becomes too hard in order to avoid damaging the ceramic. Allow to dry completely, then wipe again.
