- Air-dry clay (such as Sculpey or Fimo)
- A rolling pin
- A sharp knife
- A sculpting tool or toothpick
- A paintbrush
- Acrylic paint (in various colors)
- A clear sealant
1. Prepare your clay. Knead the clay until it is soft and pliable. If the clay is too sticky, add a small amount of cornstarch. If the clay is too dry, add a small amount of water.
2. Roll out the clay. Roll out the clay to a thickness of about 1/4 inch.
3. Cut out the lung shapes. Use the knife to cut out two lung-shaped pieces from the clay.
4. Add details to the lungs. Use the sculpting tool or toothpick to add details to the lungs, such as the lobes and the bronchial tubes.
5. Paint the lungs. Paint the lungs with acrylic paint. You can be creative with the colors, or you can use realistic colors such as red and pink.
6. Seal the lungs. Once the paint is dry, seal the lungs with a clear sealant. This will help to protect the lungs from wear and tear.
Your clay lungs are now finished! You can use them for decoration or for educational purposes.
