How to Make Self-Drying Clay

### Materials:

- 1 cup baking soda

- 1/2 cup cornstarch

- 1 cup water

- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

- Food coloring (optional)

Instructions:

1. In a large bowl, whisk together the baking soda and cornstarch.

2. In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil.

3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vegetable oil.

4. Add the hot water mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.

5. If desired, add food coloring to the dough and knead until the color is evenly distributed.

6. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

7. When you are ready to use the clay, take it out of the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for a few minutes.

8. Knead the clay until it is smooth and pliable.

9. Shape the clay into your desired objects.

10. Let the clay air dry for 24-48 hours, or until it is completely hard.

Tips:

- If the clay is too sticky, add a little more cornstarch.

- If the clay is too dry, add a little more water.

- Store the clay in an airtight container when not in use.

- Self-drying clay can be used to make a variety of objects, such as sculptures, jewelry, and toys.
