Pull the end of the spark plug wire off the top of the spark plug. Siphon the fuel from the gas tank into a spare gas can with a hand siphon. This prevents fuel from spilling while the Craftsman snow blower is in a serviceable position.
Grab the handles of the snow blower and tilt the unit up so that it is standing on its front with the wheels off the ground. Follow the speed lever cable from the lever handle to the carburetor.
Pull the rubber boot off the end of the speed lever cable at the carburetor. Grab the cable on the handle side of the spring and push it toward the carburetor until you see the threaded end of the cable adjustment bolt. There is a square end on the bolt where the cable connects.
Hold the square end with a pair of pliers and turn the nut on the bolt clockwise with a wrench until the slack is out of the cable. Release the square end of the bolt and allow the spring to stretch.
Spray the end of the cable bolt where it connects to the carburetor with lubricant. Spray the bottom of the speed lever handle where the end of the cable connects and on the rotating disc. Move the speed lever handle back and forth to distribute the lubricant.
Push the rubber boot back over the end of the speed lever cable. Place the Craftsman snow blower back onto its wheels. Fill the fuel tank with gas and push the spark plug wire onto the plug.
