Turn off the snowblower. Use your pliers to remove the spark plug wire on your Craftsman snowblower.
Use a screwdriver to remove the screws holding the recoil starter cover in place.
Slip the rubber T-shaped handle up slightly on the rope, untie the knot at the end and slip the handle off.
Use a screwdriver to pry out the starter assembly. Use pliers to remove the spring that is attached to each end of the assembly. Bend one end up with the pliers and then do the same with the other. Reverse the process to install the new spring, making sure to bend the ends of the spring down so that they firmly attach to the metal lip of the starter assembly.
Wind the starter string around the pulley of the starter assembly and then snap the assembly back into place.
Slip the starter cover over the free end of the starter rope and then use your screwdriver to attach it back onto your snowblower. Slip the rubber handle back over the starter rope and tie a knot in it.
Replace your Craftsman's spark plug wire using the pliers.
