Lay concrete reproductions of old headstones horizontally on flattened and leveled soil to create a one-of-a-kind rustic path through your yard. Use two headstones together for a wide step, or spread small headstones 2 feet apart for a more unplanned arrangement.
Arrange the reproduction headstones so they border a short raised flowerbed or vegetable garden. The headstones can contain the soil or hide a plain wood flowerbed containment wall.
Create a birdseed platform by placing two headstones in a standing position and putting a third headstone horizontally on top of them. Birdseed can rest loosely on the top headstone or in a metal or stone bowl that enhances the top of the design.
Place the headstones to form a border for a ground-level flowerbed. Dig a trench along the perimeter of the bed, and then place the headstones deep in the soil at an angle. Make the top one-third of each headstone visible, bordering but not hiding the flowerbed.
Stack headstones vertically against an outbuilding to serve as a trellis for climbing flowers and vegetables. Secure the headstones to the building with masonry screws, or just let gravity hold them in place.
