How to Level the Deck on Your Dixon ZTR 3304?

The Dixon ZTR 3304 is a zero-turn mower equipped with a large mower deck that mounts directly below the operator. The process for adjusting the mower deck on a zero-turn mower differs greatly from the deck adjustment on a lawn tractor that utilizes a suspended mower deck. You can adjust the mower deck as a DIY project to avoid the cost of bringing your mower to a repair shop.

Instructions

    • 1

Drive the Dixon mower onto level ground, such as a cement pad, and then set the parking brake. Check each tire for proper tire pressure with your tire pressure gauge. Add air with your tire pump if necessary. The required tire pressure for each tire is listed on the sidewall of the tire.

    • 2

Position the cutting deck height lever at 3 inches according the gauge next to the lever. The lever is on the side of a Dixon mower. Lock the lever in place with the height-stop knob.

    • 3

Secure a 6-inch C-clamp to the height adjustment stop rail and the height adjustment handle. This demobilizes the mechanism during adjustment.

    • 4

Place a wooden block under each side of the mower deck. It is important that each wooden block be the same thickness.

    • 5

Loosen the jam nuts on each of the threaded lift rods with a wrench, and then loosen the retaining nut on the deck-adjuster lever on the front of the mower deck. At this time, the chains that suspend between the deck and the lift rods should have slack and the deck should rest on the wooden blocks.

    • 6

Adjust the jam nuts with the wrench until the chain in each corner of the mower starts to become tight. Stop when the deck starts to lift. Repeat this with all four lift rods. Tighten the jam nuts in place, and then tighten the nut on the front adjuster lever.

    • 7

Remove the wooden blocks from the mower deck, and then remove the C-clamp from the mower.
