How to Level a John Deere EZtrak Mower

Side to Side

  Park the John Deere EZtrak mower on a level surface. Set the cutting height, and lower the mower deck to the desired cutting height. Turn the engine off, set the parking brake and pull the ignition key out of the mower.

  Reach under one side of the mower deck and turn the blade so that it points to the side of the deck. Repeat on the opposite side of the mower.

  Measure from the ground to the bottom of one of the blades with a tape measure. Repeat on the opposite side. The distances for both blades should be within 1/8 inch.

  Find the rear leveling nut on the left side of the mower deck. It is on the end of the horizontal arm of the deck just below the mower frame. Turn the nut clockwise with a socket wrench to raise the left side of the deck, or counterclockwise to lower it.

  Take the side measurements again, and continue adjusting the side-to-side leveling as necessary until both measurements are within 1/8 inch of each other.

Front to Back

  Rotate both mower blades so that they point front to back. Measure the ground-to-blade distance on the front and back of the blades. The front of the blades should be 1/4 inch lower than the rear.

  Go to the front of the EZtrak and locate the adjusting rod above the center of the mower deck. Loosen the rear nut on the rod with a wrench. Some models have two adjusting rods connecting to flanges beside the front tires.

  Turn the front nut clockwise to raise the front of the deck with a wrench, or counterclockwise to lower it. Tighten the rear nut once the front adjustment is complete.
