Troy-Bilt TB425CS Trimmer Instructions

Troy-Bilt builds a wide variety of weed trimmer models. The TB425CS is a four-cycle weed trimmer. It has a build similar to most other four-cycle weed trimmers, running off separate gas and oil tanks to power the engine. When the trigger is pulled, the head of the unit spins blades or strings to cut tall grass. Improper use of the unit will cause premature wear of the components. Following the proper starting and use instructions will help to prevent this wear.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill the oil crankcase with SAE 30 SF, SG or SH oil.

    • 2

Fill the gas tank to the fill line with unleaded fuel.

    • 3

Press the primer bulb until you can see fuel in the bulb or the fuel lines. Press down the primer 10 times after you see the fuel in the bulb.

    • 4

Push the start button so it's in the "On" position.

    • 5

      Pull the starter cord.

    • 6

Press the throttle control a few times to warm up the engine for 15 to 30 seconds.

    • 7

Slightly bend your right arm and grab the throttle grip. Extend your left arm straight out and hold the handle. Hold the unit at waist level with the trimmer head extended out from you.

    • 8

Hold the trimmer head parallel to the ground.

    • 9

Press down the throttle button to spin the head of the trimmer. More pressure on the throttle gives you a faster spin.

    • 10

Gently swing the unit back and forth by twisting your upper body. This makes a clean cutting path and prevents your arms from getting tired.

    • 11

Bump the bottom of the trimmer head on the ground to extend more trimmer line when the line wears down. There is no need to stop the engine. One bump will extend the line 1 inch.

    • 12

Turn the trimmer head sideways so the trimmer line is facing toward the dirt to cut clean lines along sidewalks or the house.
