Kids' Costume Storage

Costumes are wonderful for children because they allow their imaginations to run wild while providing them with hours of entertainment. Costumes can usually be stored in your child's closet if she only has a few, but once they start taking over the space it’s time to find a new option. Plenty of storage items are available. The best choice for you will depend on your budget and needs.
  1. Vacuum Bag

    • If the costumes you want to store don’t need to be accessed on a regular basis, you can use vacuum storage bags. These are great because they allow you to store a large number of garments without taking up much space. They also protect the garments from moisture and dust. To use a vacuum bag, place your costumes in the bag, seal it, remove the cap, place your vacuum nozzle inside the hole, allow the vacuum to suck out all the air, then screw the cap back on. The end result will be an easy-to-store flat bag of compressed costumes.

    Under-Bed Storage Container

    • Under-bed storage containers fit under a bed frame. They come in various sizes and often have wheels and a handle, allowing you to easily grab the container and roll it out. Under-bed storage containers are great because they allow you to store your child's costumes without taking up closet space. Look for storage containers with various compartments to keep articles of clothing, jewelry, wigs, shoes, and other accessories separated and organized.

    Armoire

    • If you have a large number of costumes that you want easy access to, a child's armoire might be your best option. Most have shelves, drawers and an area to hang clothes, so you can keep your child's costumes and accessories separate and organized. Also, since you can keep the costumes on hangers inside the armor, you will be able to quickly browse through your child's costume collection while keeping all of the items wrinkle free.

    Storage Bench

    • Storage benches come in a wide variety of sizes, shapes and styles. They are often placed under a window to use as a window seat, but they look great almost anywhere in a room. The top of a storage bench is usually padded and lifts up to reveal storage space. Many also have a drawer or two at the bottom of the bench. Storage benches are great for storing costumes because they give you easy access to them while doubling as a comfy seat. Storage benches with drawers are best because you can keep your child's costumes stored in the box and all other accessories stored in the drawers.
