Instructions

    • 1

Examine the kitchen cabinet to see where it is secured to the wall. The screws run through the back of the cabinet into the studs behind the wall. The cabinet also may have screws connecting it to an adjoining cabinet.

    • 2

Place a screw bit into the electric drill. Have a helper hold the cabinet in place. Remove the screws holding the cabinet to the wall. Remove the screws securing the cabinet to adjoining cabinets, if needed. Lower the cabinet to the floor.

    • 3

Go to the location where you are placing the cabinet. Place a mark on the wall with a pencil to indicate the height of the bottom of the cabinet from the base cabinets or floor. This height should match the height of the existing wall cabinets, if applicable.

    • 4

Place the level horizontally on the mark on the wall. Make sure the bubble is centered between the lines on the level. Use the pencil to draw a horizontal line on the wall. This line serves as a guide when you place the cabinet on the wall.

    • 5

Use the stud finder to locate the studs behind the wall in the area where you are placing the cabinet. Use the pencil to mark the locations of the studs. Make these marks below the mark for the bottom of the cabinet, so you can see them when the cabinet is in place.

    • 6

Lift the cabinet into place and have your helper hold the cabinet. Line the bottom of the cabinet up with the horizontal line on the wall. The bottom of the cabinet should rest on the line.

    • 7

Drive a screw into the back of the cabinet. Use the marks on the wall to make sure you hit a wall stud. Place a screw about three inches from the top of the inside of the cabinet. Put another screw about three inches from the bottom. Drive one more screw into the center point between the top and bottom screws. Repeat this procedure for each stud in the wall behind the cabinet.
