How to Paint a Tulip in Watercolor

### Supplies:

- Watercolor paper

- Watercolor paints

- Brushes (a round brush and a flat brush)

- Water cup

- Paper towel

- Pencil

Instructions:

1. Draw a tulip.

Use a pencil to draw a simple outline of a tulip, including the stem and leaves.

2. Wet the paper.

Dip the round brush in water and wet the area where you're going to paint the tulip.

3. Paint the background.

Use a flat brush and a light wash of green paint to paint the background. Let it dry completely.

4. Paint the stem and leaves.

Use a round brush and a mixture of green and brown paint to paint the stem and leaves. Let it dry completely.

5. Paint the petals.

Use the round brush and a mixture of red and orange paint to paint the petals. Start by painting the base of the petals, then work your way up, applying lighter coats as you go. Let each layer of paint dry completely before applying the next.

6. Add details.

Use a small round brush and a darker shade of red or orange to add details to the petals, such as veins or highlights.

7. Let the painting dry.

Let the painting dry completely before displaying or framing.
