1. Disconnect the power supply to the sink and faucet. Locate the circuit breaker or fuse that controls the power to the sink and turn it off. If you are unsure which circuit controls the power, flip off all the circuit breakers and test the power at the sink with an electrical tester.
2. Remove the sealant around the backsplash. Use the utility knife to score the sealant along the joint between the backsplash and the countertop. Then, use the putty knife to pry up the sealant and remove it.
3. Loosen the brackets that hold the backsplash to the wall. Use the pry bar to pry up the brackets that hold the backsplash to the drywall. Be careful not to damage the wall or the backsplash.
4. Remove the backsplash from the wall. Once the brackets are removed, you should be able to pull the backsplash away from the wall. Start at the top of the backsplash and work your way down.
5. Clean up the wall. Remove any remaining adhesive or sealant from the wall using a putty knife.
