Earliglow

• Earliglow strawberries are cited as among the best tasting strawberry varieties by the University of Vermont Extension site. Earliglow berries are large in size and are a preferred variety for wholesale or retail. The strawberry plants are vigorous in growth and production of runners. Earliglow strawberries are also well resistant to verticillium wilt and red stele root rot. The variety belongs to the junebearing group of berries, and the fruit ripens faster than any other variety. Earliglow strawberries are uniform in shape and color.

Darselect

• Darselect strawberries are among the early mid-season strawberry varieties, and the flavor is cited as very good by the University of Vermont Extension site. Darselect strawberry plants are high yielding, producing uniform, and bright red, conical-shaped fruit with a soft texture. The variety is a favorite for use in plasticulture and matted row production of strawberries. In surveys conducted on darselect by Nourse Farms Inc., 90 percent of the customers rated the variety as good to excellent for its color, size, growth of plants and overall appearance of fruit.

Sparkle

• Sparkle strawberries are listed as having an excellent flavor by the University of Vermont Extension site. The dark red, soft strawberries are one of the late mid-season varieties. Sparkle strawberry plants are vigorous in growth and well resistant to red stele. The variety is preferred for eating fresh given its high flavor. Sparkle is also among the cold hardy strawberry varieties and thrives in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. The plants produce runners freely, and healthy plants continue to bear fruit for three to four years.
