Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- Oil, for greasing
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Batter:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt until well combined.
- Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the well of dry ingredients and whisk until a smooth, lump-free batter forms.
2. Shape the Cones:
- Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat.
- Grease the skillet with a little oil to prevent sticking.
- Pour a small amount of batter onto the skillet, spreading it into a thin, round shape.
- Cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
3. Roll the Cones:
- Remove the cooked circle of batter from the skillet and quickly place it on a rolling pin, or a cone-shaped mold if you have one.
- Begin rolling the batter around the rolling pin or mold, starting from the bottom.
- Roll it tightly to form a cone shape.
- Hold the cone shape for a few seconds, allowing it to cool and set.
4. Cool the Cones:
- Carefully transfer the rolled waffle cones to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Repeat the process of cooking and rolling the batter until you have made as many cones as desired.
Tips:
- To ensure a crispy texture, cook the batter until it's golden brown on both sides.
- Work quickly when shaping the cones to prevent the batter from becoming too stiff.
- If you don't have a rolling pin, you can use a chopstick or even your finger to roll the cones.
5. Fill and Enjoy:
- Once the cones have cooled completely, you can fill them with your favorite ice cream, whipped cream, or other toppings.
- Enjoy your homemade waffle cones without an iron!
