How to Make Savory Ham With Sweet Gravy

Ingredients:

For the Ham:

1 (8-10 pound) bone-in fully cooked ham

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup yellow mustard

1 tablespoon ground cloves

1 teaspoon ground allspice

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

For the Sweet Gravy:

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups chicken broth

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup honey

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

2. In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, honey, yellow mustard, ground cloves, ground allspice, and ground black pepper. Rub the mixture all over the ham, ensuring it covers the entire surface.

3. Place the ham in a roasting pan and add enough water to cover the bottom of the pan by 1/4-inch. Cover the ham with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 1/2 hours.

4. Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes. Increase the oven temperature to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

5. Pour off the excess liquid from the roasting pan. Baste the ham with the accumulated juices. Return the ham to the oven and bake, uncovered, for 15-20 minutes, or until the glaze has browned and caramelized.

6. While the ham is baking, prepare the sweet gravy. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the mixture is golden brown.

7. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth, brown sugar, honey, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring the gravy to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the gravy has thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

8. Slice the ham and serve immediately with the sweet gravy. Enjoy!
