Curiosity Plant Care

The cereus peruvianus monstrosus cactus plant is commonly known as the curiosity plant. This plant grows well in desert climates, and is characterized by its tall, bumpy appearance. The curiosity cactus plant grows up to approximately 15 feet in spread diameter, with individual trunks up to seven inches in diameter. It has long, spiny quills and blue-green skin.
  1. Planting

    • Plant the cereus peruvianus monstrosus cactus in a container as part of a rock garden, and watch it flourish. They can also work as parts of hedges or shrubbery when planted like a tree. They require full sun and strong light, and do well in desert atmospheres.

    Watering

    • Water the curiosity plant when its soil becomes half-dry or more dry. They only require occasional waterings, so allow the soil to dry out by at least 50 percent between waterings.

    Blooms and Fruit

    • The curiosity plant blooms nightly from June to September, producing white flowers that are high in fragrance. At one point during the plant's life span, it will produce fruit that are red or yellow on the outside with a white or pink edible pulp on the inside.
