What Is the Right Kind of Pot for an Easter Cactus?

An Easter cactus, or Rhipsalidopsis, is reddish-orange in color and has star-shaped flowers. The Easter cactus grows from trees and cliffs in the Brazilian rain forest.
  1. Material

    • An Easter cactus should be planted in a clay pot.

    Color

    • Easter cactus should be in a pot that has not been glazed; colored pots are not a good choice. A clay pot will be a natural reddish-brown color.

    Size

    • An Easter cactus should be planted in a pot that's approximately 1 inch larger than the diameter of the plant itself. Easter cactus grows best if the roots are slightly cramped; a pot that's too large won't help growth.

    Particulars

    • The bottom of the pot should have drainage holes.

    Considerations

    • The cactus will need to be repotted as it grows. Any new pot should always be 1 inch larger than the diameter of the plant.
