- 12 ounces (about 3 cups) fresh cranberries
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
1. In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, water, sugar, orange juice, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries have softened and burst and the sauce has thickened slightly.
4. Remove from heat and let cool completely before serving.
Tips:
- For a sweeter sauce, increase the amount of sugar to 1 1/2 cups.
- For a tarter sauce, decrease the amount of sugar to 3/4 cup.
- Add some grated orange zest to the sauce for an extra bit of flavor.
- Cranberry sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
