Ingredients:
- 1 cup (180 grams) white rice
- 1 3/4 cups (420 ml) water
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) white vinegar
- Salt, to taste (optional)
Instructions:
1. Rinse the rice in a fine-mesh strainer under cold running water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch and impurities.
2. In a medium saucepan or rice cooker, combine the rinsed rice, water, vinegar, and salt (if using). Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
3. Once the water comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan tightly, and let the rice simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until all the water has been absorbed and the rice is tender.
4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand, covered, for 5 minutes to allow the rice to steam further.
5. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.

- Start with 1 tablespoon of vinegar for every 1 3/4 cups of water. You can adjust the amount of vinegar to suit your taste preference.
