How to Plant Green Beans

Green beans are popular to grow because of their use in many culinary dishes. Green beans can be put into casserole recipes, stir-fries or eaten on their own. Green beans are a crop that prefers a warmer climate and will grow well in most soils.

Instructions

    • 1

Plant the green beans in the spring. Green beans should be planted once the weather breaks and there is no longer danger of frost.

    • 2

Find a spot to plant in full sun. You need to choose rich soil that is well drained.

    • 3

Fertilize the soil. Before you plant you should work fertilizer into the soil. This will guarantee a plentiful crop.

    • 4

Dig holes that are 1 to 2 inches deep. This is the ideal depth for green bean seeds. The seeds should be sowed at least 2 inches apart.

    • 5

Keep seeds wet while they are germinating. This ensures optimal growth.

    • 6

Separate the rows by at least 18 to 20 inches. This gives the plants enough room to grow.

    • 7

Place a fence or trellis next to green bean plants. They need the support once they begin to grow.
